Example of a true story...

Have you ever been faced with assisting a loved one, employee or neighbor navigate the health care system while they were going through a crisis?

The President of a Philadelphia area based company had completed an exhaustive search for a VP position in his company. Following the hiring process, relocation process, introduction, probation period and assimilation to duties, management and supervision for which this individual was hired, 6 months had passed.

At this time, the VP was notified that his 85 year-old mother whom he took responsibility for and whom lived out on the west coast, had fallen, broken her hip, right leg and was now in the hospital. She had a history of cardiac issues and no one to look after her welfare.

The Vice President approached his boss and felt he had no option but to resign and return to the west coast to care for his mother.

The President of the company investigated his options. He had spent the better part of the year trying to fill this position and did not want to disrupt what was already in place.

Acting as an ombudsman, with a case management background, coordination ensued with the Concierge for Care acting as a liaison between the VP, President, treating physicians, care givers, and the patient herself. Time lines were adhered to, the best orthopaedic surgeons and cardiologists enlisted and time off negotiated for the VP to take long weekends periodically to visit with his mother knowing the oversight of her care was coordinated and completed.

As a result, the VP maintained his position, the President did not have to put in place another approach or hire someone else, and the patient was able to stay at home as independently as possible.

This is an example of how the program works. Each situation is unique and therefore, each plan of care is specialized and coordinated for the specific needs of the individual.
